Tode (Karate) Sakugawa was the first instructor to teach in a dojo setting (different from teaching family members only, which was the Okinawan custom at the time). In teaching others, not family, he developed the first dojo kun. A dojo kun is the code of a martial arts school. We believe in building leaders, not fighters. We teach our students, children and adults, to follow a code of honor. Our kun is all about protecting ourselves and others while living a life of integrity.
